Without asking for a meeting

Hello to almost 900 people since the last week’s edition who have decided to keep it real, authentic and actionable.

This one is an under 2 minute read on how to write a LinkedIn DM to get an around 30% reply rate.

You viewed their profile, a day later you sent a blank connection request and they now have accepted. Gut instinct makes you want to ask them for a meeting or do a pitch slap but both of these are a no no and it’s too early to be going all in for a meeting.

Make sure you read their content, about section and experience. Any recent posts you like (not just the last 3, go back a bit further if they post regularly)

Instead do this:

“Hey Charlotte, your post about XYZ stuck with me and reminded me of X.

I’d like to get your expert view on a potentially dumb office work (relevant topic) related question”

Now make the next question genuine…the idea is you want to get a conversation going.

In this instance, you sell marketing lead generation to locations that need to fill real estate spaces with companies who sign up to rent or lease offices. You’re not gonna mention the word “leads”.

“Do you like to work more from home or in office?”

Noticed you have empty buildings, how are you planning on filling that office space with tenants now hybrid working has taken over?”

Once they answer you, send a report or study related to that topic that they may find interesting. The aim then is to get them on a call and discuss it further. Then you can do discovery.

Now you have a conversation going and after some not too much back and forth, ask for a meeting if the prospect/buyer has a problem your solution solves for. Get them onto a call.
