When I first started in sales, I was stepping into a world I knew nothing about. 

I had never made a cold call, started back in 2001 and 3 years ago, I had never demoed a product when I switched roles to selling a martech solution.

In fact, I was one of the oldest sales reps in the business. 

But what I did have was a determination to succeed, even though I was at least 10 older than most of my peers.


My journey began with relentless cold calling. 100s of dials a day back in 2001.

For 20 years, I honed this craft, adapting to new technologies and strategies as the sales landscape evolved. 

I started by selling to large companies like Danone, Coke and P&G and gradually moving up more enterprise deals, spending 15 years selling to...governments, one of the hardest type of prospects with long sales cycles.

Fast forward to now and I started my own sales and social selling business from my side hustle (which I monetised in March).

None of this could have happened without growing my presence on LinkedIn.

One day, 3 years ago I put myself forward to be interviewed about why I chose sales as a career, then in 2021, committed to posting on LinkedIn 5 times a week, and it took off from there.


Now, in my mid-forties, I still make cold calls (and I still feel reluctance from time to time but just get on with it!)

Building my personal brand on LinkedIn to 42k followers meant using LinkedIn made it a lot easier to close business. Relationships are the heart of sales. When we build strong foundations, we aren't selling, we are helping.

It's not just a task; it's a reminder of where I started and how far I've come. 

I've led team of sales reps and work with founders, coaches, and business owners who want to grow their sales and business on LinkedIn and with sales techniques that aren't daunting. 

I find that making cold calls keeps me grounded and connected to the core of what sales is all about, not being pushy, being a problem solver.


My story is one of resilience and adaptability. It's about not letting age, inexperience, or the daunting world of sales define or limit me. Every challenge was an opportunity to learn, grow, and develop further.
