In today’s 2 minute read, we’re diving into taking a LinkedIn first approach with your outreach. Wanna add another 20 or so prospects to your pipeline?

I sourced over $3m in pipeline and sold $1.5m in new logos all through cold outreach, BUT using LinkedIn was key to me getting there. I then got a social selling ranking of #1 out of 307 sales reps.

With Google and Yahoo tightening up their cold email outreach rules, if 3 out 1000 marked as spam, you cold lose your prospects on email. Time to shift the focus to LinkedIn. Social selling is going to get more competitive, so time to refine your strategy.

1. Tighten up your profile..who do you help and how do you help them solve a burning problem? Professional style headshot

2.Blank connection request, I have been getting more accepted lately, 15% more likely to get accepted. They’re less intrusive.

3.Once accepted - send a voice note thanking them. Mention something of note from their profile “see you switched jobs, how is it going?”. Keep it light. Be curious about their world, real empathy goes a long way.

4. Problem statement - if they haven’t mentioned a challenge yet, now is the time to ask: “since you moved only 2 months ago and are hiring, how is ramping the team going in such a short time and finding your feet?

5.Question - what they done to solve the problem? What is the impact if they carry on the same? Aim to be specific here.

Here you might get resistance..meet them where they are, do not try to convince.

6.Suggest a meeting - once you have confirmed the problem, the urgency and you know you could solve it…
