7 terrible questions to ask on a sales call

and how to reframe them

Hello to 2,155 people now who have decided to keep it real, authentic and actionable. Its the #27th edition.

This one is a 1 minute 50 second read on 7 terrible questions to ask in sales and how to reframe them.

Oftentimes we go into auto mode with a prospect and don’t think about the impact of our questions on the person we’re asking.

Our questions need to be focused and enough to get the prospect thinking.

In the intricate dance of sales, communication is key. But not all questions are created equal. Today, am uncovering seven questions that could be sabotaging your sales calls and providing practical advice on how to reframe them for a more successful dialogue. You wanna win, right?

Are you the decision-maker? This can seem disrespectful. Instead, try: "Could you share with me who else is involved in this decision-making process? Better: Who else would see this as a priority in your org?"

What's your budget? This can appear presumptuous. A softer approach is: "What kind of investment range were you thinking for this kind of service/solution?"

Do you have time to talk? This suggests they might be too busy for you. Consider: "Is this a good time for you, or is there another moment that would work better?"

Who else are you considering? This implies insecurity. Alternatively, ask: "What are your key considerations when choosing a partner for this project?"

Are you ready to buy now? This is too pushy. Instead, probe: "How soon are you looking to make a decision on this matter?"

Don't you think our solution is better? This comes off as desperate. Reframe it as: "What features or benefits are you most interested in?"

What did I do wrong? This displays a lack of confidence. Replace it with: "I appreciate your feedback. Can you share more about your concerns so we can serve you better?"

Mastering the art of asking the right questions will enable you to build trust, show respect, and drive your sales conversations towards successful closures.
